You’re Not Lazy. You’re Just Battling a Dragon in Your Brain
Pep Talk from Marge
(Certified Reaper (in training), Anxiety Wrestler, Blanket Burrito Champion)
Let’s get one thing straight: if your biggest win today is sitting up in bed and staring at the ceiling?
That counts as progress.
You woke up with anxiety whispering in your ear like some overcaffeinated ghost: “Everything is doomed. Get up. No wait, stay and wrap yourself in blankets. But also, the world is ending…panic!”
And somehow, despite that chaos symphony of fire breathing dragons, you're still here? Still breathing?! Still reading this?!
I don’t say this too often, but that’s magic.
No wands required. Just guts, blankets, maybe a cup of peppermint tea.
Let me say something that might ruffle a few feathers (or cloaks):
You are not weak because your brain hits the panic button before your feet hit the floor.
You are not lazy because motivation forgot to RSVP this morning.
And you are absolutely not a failure because brushing your teeth feels like climbing a metaphorical mountain through the mud with no shoes.
You’re battling invisible dragons that have invaded your brain. The kind that wrap around your ribs and say, “Don’t bother.”
But guess what? You bothered. You showed up to this moment anyway.
Even if you’re still horizontal. Even if your to-do list is glaring at you from across the room like a disappointed librarian.
Here’s your permission slip to start small:
Sit up and wrap yourself in a blanket.
Breathe deeply even if it hurts your lungs.
Drink water (or tea).
Move one finger so that you can charge your phone and call it progress.
And if someone tries to send you on a guilt trip for not doing enough?
Hand them my name and tell them I said to back off before I use my scythe like a motivational spatula.
You are doing enough. And no matter what anyone, or the universe, says you are enough.
Even if "enough" looks like surviving in pajamas and staring at the ceiling with fierce determination.
Tomorrow, we’ll rise out of bed and do one thing on the to-do list. Today, we exist. And that’s no small feat.
Now take one more breath for me. You’ve got this.
Slow and steady. Blanket burrito style.

P.S. Ossie the skull has something to say:
And if anyone says that blanket burrito is not a valid survival strategy in the mortal realm, tell them, “Even skeletons need soft days. Preferably with snacks and no expectations.”
